Cancel anytime, with no hassle.

Trellis is built on monthly habits, not lock-in.

Everything below happens automatically when you cancel from inside the app. We do not require you to email us to cancel or to claim a refund — the system issues any refund that's due.

How to cancel

In the app, go to Account → Membership → Cancel subscription. The cancel dialog shows you exactly what will happen — how much refund (if any) you'll receive and when your access ends — before you confirm.

UK, EU and EEA consumers — statutory 14-day cooling-off

If you're a consumer in the UK, EU, EEA or Switzerland, you have a statutory right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and the EU Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU to cancel within 14 days of your first payment. This applies to both monthly and annual plans.

Cancelling inside that window triggers a full refund of everything you've paid, with no deduction for the days you've used the service. Access ends immediately. You don't need to email us, quote a regulation, or speak with a human — the system does it.

Monthly cooling-off example: signed up on 5 June, cancel any time before 19 June → refund $99.00 (the full amount paid). Access ends on the day you cancel.

Annual cooling-off example: signed up on 5 June, cancel any time before 19 June → refund $948.00 (the full amount paid). Access ends on the day you cancel.

Cooling-off applies only to your initial subscription — not to renewals.

After receiving a cooling-off refund, please wait 30 days before subscribing again. This prevents abuse of the cooling-off window and doesn't affect your right to cancel any future subscription within its own 14-day cooling-off period. If you change your mind sooner, email hello@trellislearn.com.

Monthly plan — outside the cooling-off window

This section applies to monthly subscribers who are either outside the UK/EU/EEA/Switzerland or are cancelling more than 14 days after their initial signup.

Cancel any time. Your subscription stays active until the end of the billing period you've already paid for, then stops billing. We don't issue refunds for the remaining days of that cycle — you keep access through it.

Annual plan — outside the cooling-off window

This section applies to annual subscribers who are either outside the UK/EU/EEA/Switzerland or are cancelling more than 14 days after their initial signup.

Cancel any time. We charge $99 for each calendar month you've used (including the month you cancel in) and refund the rest. Your access ends at the end of the calendar month you cancelled in.

Months billed: calendar months from signup month through cancellation month, inclusive  ·  Fair charge: $99 × months billed  ·  Refund: $948 − fair charge (minimum $0).

Example: signed up in January, cancel any day in July → 7 months billed (Jan–Jul) → fair charge $693 → refund $255. Access continues through 31 July, then stops.

If you've already had 10 or more calendar months on the plan, no refund is due — the monthly equivalent has already exceeded the annual price.

Refunds go back to the original payment method within 5–10 business days, processed automatically through our payment processor.

Switching plans — annual to monthly

You can downgrade from the annual plan to the monthly plan at any time from Account → Membership. Because the two plans are priced differently, here's how the change is handled:

We charge $99 for each calendar month you've been on the annual plan (including the current month), and refund the rest of what you paid for the year. Your annual access continues through the end of the current calendar month, and the monthly plan starts on the first day of the next calendar month at $99/month.

Months billed: calendar months from signup month through current month, inclusive  ·  Fair charge: $99 × months billed  ·  Refund: $948 − fair charge (minimum $0).

Example: signed up in January on the annual plan, switch to monthly any day in April → 4 months billed (Jan–Apr) → fair charge $396 → refund $552. Annual access continues through 30 April; monthly billing of $99 starts 1 May and renews on the 1st of each month after.

If you've already had 10 or more calendar months on the annual plan, no refund is due (the monthly equivalent has already exceeded the annual price). In that case, your annual access continues to its natural renewal date, and we switch you to the monthly plan from the day after, with $99 charged on that date.

Refunds go back to the original payment method within 5–10 business days. Switching plans is not a cancellation — your access never lapses.

Upgrades (monthly to annual) are different: Stripe charges you the prorated difference today so you start saving the 20% immediately, and your renewal date moves to one year from today.

Coming back after a cancellation

Cancellation is final. We don't offer a "resume" or reactivation option for cancelled subscriptions — if you change your mind, simply start a new subscription from Account → Membership.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, access is paused immediately while our payment processor retries the charge over the next ~2 weeks. As soon as a retry succeeds, access resumes automatically. If all retries fail, the subscription is cancelled and you can subscribe again at any time from Account → Membership.

You'll see a banner in the app as soon as a payment fails, with a link to update your payment method. Your payment processor may also email you about the failed payment, but this depends on its settings and your card issuer.

You can also cancel manually during this window from Account → Membership. Your subscription ends immediately; no refund is due (the failed renewal was never charged); you can re-subscribe any time. Switching plans is not available while a payment is being retried — fix your payment method first, then switch.

Disputes & chargebacks

If something looks wrong on a bill, please email hello@trellislearn.com first — almost everything is faster to resolve directly than through a chargeback. We're a small UK company and we take billing issues seriously.

Data after cancellation

Cancelling stops billing but does not delete your account or learner data. To permanently delete your data, use Account → Data → Delete my account.

Subscription billing is operated by Clario Technologies Ltd (company number 17097330, registered in England and Wales) via a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. See also our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
